Civil War History
Located on both the Wilderness Road and Skaggs Trace, Rockcastle was site of numerous skirmishes and battles, including Battle of Big Hill (part of Battle of Richmond) and near Battle of Wildcat Mountain (first Union victory of the Civil War).

Hiatt’s Farmstead
This last vestige of a once-working, valley farm welcomes you to the 1819 house with its collection of old receipts and other items when days were counted successful depending upon the work that was done. Site of Hiatt family cemetery and slave cemetery. No fee.
