Rockcastle County, Kentucky is located in the southeastern part of Kentucky. We are conveniently located just off of interstate-75 between Madison and Laurel county. As of the 2010 census, the population in Rockcastle County was 17,056. The county seat is Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, which is 54.7 miles south of Lexington, Kentucky on I-75. The closest airport is only a short drive north of Lexington. The county was founded in 1810 and named for the Rockcastle River, which runs through it.
